Dubai, June 11, 2015: University of Dubai will soon provide a two-year academic program in Logistics Management and Customs Science to Dubai Customs employees. This program will help enhance the human resource capabilities at Dubai Custom. This announcement came out during the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) by Dr. Eesa M. Al Bastaki, President of University of Dubai, and His Excellency Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs. Describing human capital as an essential element in the development process, Dr. Al Bastaki said the MOU will enable Dubai Customs employees to get a diploma in Logistics Management and Customs Science, a new major of its kind in the region which is a specialization recognized by Knowledge†and†Human Development†Authority in Dubai. He said as one of the internationally recognized universities in the region, the University of Dubai is aiming to become one of the top 100 universities in the world in the next ten years. It is also seeking to contribute to the development of educational tourism in the country with its quality education and global recognition. HE Ahmed Mahboob Musabih said the MOU with University of Dubai represents a major leap for Dubai Customs as it will enable its staff to gain enhanced capabilities under a reputable university. He explained that the academic program will be held in two phases; the first offering a diploma degree majoring in Supply Chain and Logistics Management and the second offering a bachelor’s degree in the same disciplines as well as Customs specialization. HE Musabih affirmed that these unique disciplines will support the work of Dubai Customs and enable it to achieve increased efficiency in human resources.
