With the Internet of Things (IoT) revolution, over 50 billion connected things in the world are expected by year 2020 and 40% of all world data will come from IoT devices and sensors nearly reaching 90% of the worldís data created in the last 2 years. Due to the significance of this topic, the University of Dubai (UD) in collaboration with the IEEE UAE Education & Computer Chapters held on May 3rd, 2017 a workshop entitled by ìInternet of Things (IoT): The Key Enabler of a Smarter Worldî at UDís new campus. The workshop featured the keynote speaker, Mr. Wafeeq Ajoor, Executive IT Advisor/Consultant at Bahrain Health Regularity Authority, who discussed the motivating factors, key goals, requirements, eco-system, capabilities, features and impacts of IoT. He even raised awareness about the platforms and data value chain of IoT in a smart world. This workshop was designed to be applicable to a wide range of audience. Research and development engineers, telecommunications managers, academic researchers and government officials may find the wide coverage of the workshop very attractive and beneficial.
