University of Dubai Students Elect Their Representatives

The University of Dubai (UD) announced the results of this yearís Studentsí Union elections in which Ahmad Al-Kittoub Al-Nuaimi was elected as President and Maitha Al-Shuwaihi as Vice-President. Conducted by the Department of Student Services, the elections witnessed a large number of participants who voted for their best candidates through an online process. The university provided all possible facilities to support the candidates with complete neutrality. The winners were selected according to their electoral programs and plans which they proposed to students. Those plans tackled studentsí interests, academic issues, relationship with the administration, activities, concerns and life on/off campus. UD President Dr. Eesa Al Bastaki congratulated the winners and greeted students who participated in the elections. ìWe appreciate students who work hard to serve the educational process. Our aim as an institution is to encourage them to provide innovative ideas and constructive criticism that serves the public interest.î He added that the university is interested in hearing the students’ opinions and fulfilling their requirements. Ahmed Al Nuaimi, President of Studentsí Union, said that he will mainly focus on providing professional training sessions, international courses, and interactive workshops to enrich the studentsí experience and curricula vitae. ìThese training sessions would provide opportunities for our students to share their ideas in the field of business management and think outside the box.î He also added that he aims at establishing a club for entrepreneurs and talents to discover, develop and support students as well as organizing brainstorming sessions to strengthen their relationship with the universityís administrative body. Aside from supporting its students and alumni, the University offers several discounts to government employees, first class relatives and some schools under special agreements. It also helps financially challenged students through contributions from the Alumni Association and a number of charities.
