Three 12-Graders Receive 10,000 AED During UDís Imaging Competition

The University of Dubai (UD) in collaboration with the IEEE UAE Education Chapter organized the ìDigital Imaging Student Competition.î A 10,000 AED prize was distributed among the three winners as follows; 5000 AED for the First Place Winner Shaima Khaled Halboob (Grade 12) from Sharjah International School, 3,000 AED for the Second Place Winner Abdulla Abbas Patva (Grade 12) from Emirates English Speaking School, and 2,000 AED for the Third Place Winner Abdulhaq Al Wasabi (Grade 12) from Al Shola Private School for Boys. The event aimed to provide the UAE high-school students, mainly 11 and 12 graders, the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their digital photography skills. The competition, which was open to all UAE high schools, witnessed the participation of more than seven schools including Dubai Modern School, Raffles World Academy, Dubai National School, Emirates English Speaking School, Sharjah International School, Al Shola Private School for Girls & Boys, Manarat Al Sharjah School for Girls & Boys and Universal American School. The images were captured by the students using ìprofessionalî digital cameras during the National Day 2017 celebrations held at their schools. Each school has participated with a maximum of five images which were submitted to UD on Monday 22nd January 2018. A panel of digital imaging experts has assessed the work of the students and selected the three best photos during an award ceremony held at the University of Dubai in presence of its President Dr. Eesa Al Bastaki.
