Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UD Alumni Association in partnership with Beit Al Khair Society, organized a charity Suhoor event under the slogan “Charity Empowering Education” on July 9th in the Grand Hyatt Dubai to support financially challenged students. The event brought together representatives of various associations as well as public and private institutions in addition to a large number of donors, Universityís Alumni, students and Government officials. Speaking at a religious seminar organized on the occasion, Islamic scholar Dr. Omar AbdelKafy stressed the importance of charity initiatives in education and called for more generous efforts towards providing educational opportunities for students commending Beit Al Khair and UD for their valuable efforts to support needy students. Dr. Eesa Al Bastaki pointed out that UD is one of the first national universities to integrate an Islamic economy program in a curriculum, having included the program in the CBA and CIT faculties. H.E. Saeed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Deputy Director General of the Beit Al Khair Society, said, ìThe charity initiative organized by the UD Alumni Association is in line with our commitment to support financially challenged students through our Tyseer project.” Speaking on behalf of the UDAA President, Sheikh Mohammed Juma Al Maktoum, Mr. Ahmed Al Falasi said: ìI salute the government institutions and private companies as well as individuals who came forward to show generous support for this noble activity, led by our outstanding partner Beit Al Khair Society, which is one of the most important charitable institutions in the UAE.” Special thanks to the event sponsors (Ghenej Jewelry, Intercoil LLC and Epson) for their valuable support and contribution to the charity event.
