UD Participates in the 9th Confucius Institute Conference

University of Dubai participated in the 9th Confucius Institute Conference December 15, 2014: UDCIDuring the 7th and the 8th of December 2014, the 9th Confucius Institute Conference was held in Xiamen, Fujian. Dr. Eesa Al Bastaki, President of University of Dubai (UD) and Dr. He Jianguo, President of Ningxia University together with other delegates from the two Universities participated in the meeting and met Madam Xu Lin, Chief Executive of Confucius Institute Headquarters and Director General of Hanban.† This year marks the 10th anniversary of Confucius Institute since its establishment. Madam Liu Yandong, Vice Premier of P. R. China and Chair of the Council of the Confucius Institute Headquarters delivered a keynote speech at the conference. She accentuated in her remarks that the development of the Confucius Institute requires vision, equal cooperation and concerted efforts. She hopes that the Confucius Institute will make new contributions to establishing a harmonious world of lasting peace and common prosperity. During the two-day conference, the delegates reach broad consensus on the development objectives of the Confucius Institute in the coming decade. Madam Xu Lin, Member of CPPCC National Committee, Counselor of the State Council of P. R. China, Chief Executive of Confucius Institute Headquarters and Director General of Hanban, gave a concluding speech that offered clear responses to and explanations of the ten major issues concerning the development of the Confucius Institute put forward by delegates, who all applauded Madam Xuís viewpoints after hearing her speech.
