UDAA Presidentís Message

16 Dear Fellow Alumni, The academic year 2013-2014 marked another achievement to be added to the UD Alumni Associationís portfolio. The UDAA in collaboration with the Alumni Relations office at UD hosted it’s first successful Annual Charity Gala Suhoor during the Holy month of Ramadan, on July 9th 2014 under the patronage of Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and under the umbrella of the Beit Al Khair Charity. The event was an excellent opportunity for us, the alumni, to exhibit our philanthropic spirit by giving back to the University of Dubai, which remains an important touchstone in our lives, years, even decades after we graduated. Most importantly, this fundraising will enable us to provide real support to UD merit students who are struggling financially to cover their study expenses. This will make a positive difference in their lives and in the UAE community. As much as I was saddened by the fact that we didnít hold our Annual Alumni Homecoming this year due to budget restrictions, I was happy that the Charity Gala Suhoor event represented another great occasion for us to get together, but for a more noble cause. Therefore, I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for your positive contribution to said event. Thanks again and I look forward to another productive year with the support of all of you! Sincerely, Mohammed Juma Al Maktoum
