Dubai, January, 2016: Under the patronage of Sheikha Fatima bint Zayed bin Saqr Al Nahyan, wife of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, and President of Umm Al Mumineen Association, the University of Dubai in collaboration with the Association facilitated the graduation of 23 Emirati women from the university in the field of entrepreneurship in 2015. A graduation ceremony was organised at the Association in Ajman in the presence of Sheikha Azza bint Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Director of the Association, and Dr. Eesa M. Al Bastaki, President of University of Dubai, as well as representatives from the Citigroup, which supported the training programme, and a number of university students. Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Al Bastaki commended the efforts of the Association in developing the entrepreneurial capacities of Emirati women by enrolling them in specialised training programmes, and refining their skills and experience in this area. He pointed out that the University of Dubai has prioritised the consolidation of joint cooperation with private foundations and charities to strengthen the UAEís role in all fields, particularly in the field of entrepreneurship. The University of Dubai is also seeking to actively support the role of women in the business community and in developing the UAE economy, he said. Dr. Al Bastaki said women in the UAE have played a crucial role in business projects in various fields. In this direction, he pointed to the continued support received from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Highlighting the achievements of Emirati women in the areas of entrepreneurship, technology and leadership, Dr. Al Bastaki cited the election of Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi as Speaker of the Federal National Council in the UAE. On the occasion, Shamsa Al Falasi, Head of Citi Global Subsidiaries Group ñUAE, assured the sustained support of the Group in developing the skills and capabilities of Emirati women in the field of entrepreneurship and enabling them to achieve success in their projects. A spokeswoman representing Umm el Moumineen association thanked the participants and sponsors. She said that ìthis event marks a new stage in enabling women through this program. We sincerely hope that this constitute the beginning to move further towards empowerment programs to serve larger segment of women entrepreneurs. We are looking forward to strengthen the role of the association in the service of society through the advancement of the economic and social role of women.î ?The ceremony concluded with the handover of Entrepreneurship Diploma Certificates to the graduates. During the event, the attendees visited the exhibition in the Association and viewed the projects and products prepared by the women graduates.
