University of Dubai Concludes Its Two-Day International ìBusiness and Lawî Conference

  The conference tackles more than 30 significant research topics The University of Dubai (UD) has successfully concluded its first ìInternational Conference on Advances in Business Management and Law- 2017.î The conference, which took place from November 25 to November 26, 2017 at UD, attracted university professors, research scholars, PhD students from various countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America. Dr. Ananth Rao, Dean of Dubai Business School, expressed his extreme satisfaction with the conferenceís results. He said that 34 in -depth researches were presented in different topics ranging from HR Management, to Finance, Leadership, Marketing, Business Ethics, to Legal Issues pertaining to the UAE economy and others. The conference had two main speakers; Dr. Eesa Al Bastaki, President of University of Dubai and Dr. Belaid Rettab, Senior Director of Economic Research & Sustainable Business Development Sector at Dubai Chamber. Dr. Al Bastaki focused on the future of business development linking it to technologies and smart cities. He extensively talked about Internet of Things, Robotic and technology trends focusing on the roles of research and business as inseparable approaches to better investments. He proclaimed that research must serve people and should not be sellable. He called for Made in UAE and Sold Globally as a business trend in the UAE. Dr. Rettab warned against bad business practices showing charts and statistics about the future of global business. He questioned some business results; global warming to poverty and unemployment. He also called for zero-waste path, alternative energy function, and green technologies. This conference was organized by the Centre for Research & Consultancy at Dubai Business School in collaboration with Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Academic Consortia of 21 universities in UAE, and AACSB/EQUIS accredited international universities. The theme of the conference was ìResearch for Business Innovation and Advancementî provides networking opportunities with high profile plenary sessions and PhD Workshops for participants.

The conference displayed full-length research papers including empirical research, quantitative techniques, new models, practice-based research, case studies, and conceptual papers, were invited, in the following areas: Finance, Banking, Insurance, Accounting, Economics, Business Law, Financial Crimes & Money Laundering, International Commercial Arbitration, Management, Leadership, Strategy, and HRM, Marketing, Tourism, E-Commerce, Business Ethics, Big Data Analytics in businesses, Business Intelligence, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and many others.

Selected top quality accepted papers are published as conference proceedings. Based on the feedback from the conference attendees, the selected re-submitted 15-20% top-rated papers are likely to be published in the first issue of International Journal on Advances in Business, Management and Law (IRABML). These conference proceedings and the journal are likely to be indexed in SCOPUS and ISI.
