The Center for Executive Development at the University of Dubai (CED-UD) held a graduation ceremony for the first batch of its Happiness@Work Diploma. UD President Dr. Eesa Al Bastaki congratulated the graduates during the ceremony and urged them to transfer the experience and knowledge they gained from the diploma to their fellow employees in their workplaces and institutions. He pointed out that the diploma is an innovative program based on the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which he translated in his book “Reflections on Happiness and Positivity.” ìThe University has launched this diploma in order to prove its full commitment to the approach and aspirations of His Highness to make Dubai the happiest city in the world,î he said. He pointed out that the development of this diploma also came after UDís successful establishment of its first Happiness and Positivity Council, which includes representatives of students, alumni, staff and faculty members who have undertaken many initiatives in this area. During the ceremony, Dr. Al Bastaki distributed certificates to graduates who were mainly employees at governmental and public institutions. He also granted them badges of happiness and officially announced them as the first members of the Diplomaís Alumni Association. Mr. Haider Ali, trainer and expert on happiness, said that this diploma is one of the unique and distinguished programs that take into consideration the UAEís culture, values, customs, and work ethics among private and public institutions.† He added that the diploma includes three stages or certificates where the first is based on the activation and empowerment of happiness. He also explained in details the main steps and techniques that should be implemented and applied by both employees and employers to stimulate and spread happiness in the workplace. Graduates expressed their satisfaction with the program which they considered as a fruitful and beneficial experience toward creating a better society and healthier working environment in the UAE.
